1881 The Complete Poetical Works of John Greenleaf Whittier

1881 The Complete Poetical Works of John Greenleaf Whittier

1881 The Complete Poetical Works of John Greenleaf Whittier, With Numerous Illustrations. Published in Boston by Houghton, Mifflin & Co. This is a taller, thin book with a brown cloth decorative cover and spine. I love collecting books like this because they have the poets name printed large on the spine… so they look great as a collection on a shelf! You can collect all of your favorite poets. This copy in particular is in great condition! It is super clean inside and out with very little wear. The binding is nice and tight.

**John Greenleaf Whittier was an American Quaker poet and advocate of the abolition of slavery in the United States. Frequently listed as one of the fireside poets, he was influenced by the Scottish poet Robert Burns. Whittier is remembered particularly for his anti-slavery writings, as well as his 1866 book Snow-Bound.
