There is also a sweet inscription written at the front of each book from the year it was published, 1858. The first series follows the church calendar, arranged by Sundays and chief festivals from Advent onward. While the second series focuses on themes of the inner spiritual life, penitence, faith, and hope. The hymns emphasize a believer’s longing for a deep, personal connection with Jesus Christ.
